Tri-Band Perfection

ASUS directed the AC3200 towards people who have multiple devices connected at the same time. This router can handle devices like a boss due to its Tri-Band technology which lets it easily switch to and connect to devices based on their needs. This switch makes sure that all devices are connected properly and allows for a smooth transition based on the situation of the connected devices.

5 Ghz is the upper limit but most devices don’t use that much juice all the time. So in most cases it’s better to switch to a 2.4 Ghz band. This let’s you save on some battery on your devices as well as increase their ranges significantly.

On the other hand, the 5 GHz band lets you utilize up to 3200 Mbps at a time but the increased speed comes with a caveat I.e a lower range.

Many people aren’t aware of these technicalities and this can lead to issues later on so Asus has equipped this device with their tri-band technology. Well, this is why this Asus AC 3200 review is here for.

The performance is on par and in many cases, better than other routers in the segment which is a great thing.

One other improvement that this router features over other traditional routers is its ability to utilize a hardware NAT instead of a software one. This, as a result, leads to significantly faster connections and WAN to LAN transfers on the fly. Consequently, removing any software or other related bottlenecks that you may see with many other traditional routers in this segment.

Powerful Hardware comes with a Powerful Design

The router looks pretty damn good and has some very capable hardware installed in true ASUS fashion. You get a dual-core 1Ghz Broadcom BCM4709 processor with 256MB of DDR3 RAM and 128MB of flash storage. They didn’t cheap out on the antennas either. You get 6 large antennas so you should never worry about running out of wifi juice for your devices. Asus has got you covered when it comes to connectivity.

You get 4 Gigabit LAN ports which is the norm in routers of this caliber. You also get a gigabit WAN port as well. Our Asus AC 3200 review aims to look at the whole router thoroughly and so far so good. We have been provided with adequate ports.

Other ports include a USB 2.0 port at the back and a USB 3.0 port at the front. Asus should have put both of them at the back which was a bit of a let-down. With that little minor hiccup, the rest of the package is seemingly very solid.

User Interface with ease of use in mind

Asus put a lot of thought into designing the user interface for this device. You get a quick internet setup option which lets you set up your connection very quickly. Other than that, you get parental controls and a security management tool built-in. In addition to all of this you also get the other essential settings and can make a lot of tweaks within the router through the provided tool from ASUS.

By default, the 2.4 Ghz and the 5 Ghz bands are merged into a single network. This means it doesn’t matter what the device is, you don’t have to worry about compatibility. You can turn it off in the settings if you want more manual control over this feature.

The user interface also provides with a very interactive and user friendly network map which lets you manage and check all the live devices connected to your router in real time.

What all of this means is that it gets pretty straight forward and easy to set this router up and makes for a smooth and hassle-free experience for even the average Joes out there.

Bonus features that we love

While doing this Asus AC 3200 Review, we found that Asus has provided a few bonus features with this package and we are very glad they did.

The first one is called AiProtection. The Aiprotection suite is provided by Trend Micro, it protects your home and the entire network of devices connected to your router with live virus and malware protection. This feature helps in keeping your connected devices safe and also at the same time makes sure everything runs as intended while minimizing most vulnerabilities on your network.

Adaptive QoS is another feature that we love about this router. Usually, windows have a QoS feature that lets you prioritize network traffic on various channels. For example, you may prioritize video streaming over downloading, etc. While doing this review we found that the Asus AC 3200 already does this automatically for us by seamlessly transitioning and switching to the right QoS based on our current usage. One of the best features so far and definitely deserves a lot of appreciation because Asus actually took their time to build this into the router itself.

Other features may include web analysis which lets you check on real-time applications and how they are using the network. You can peek at the uploads and the downloaded bits using this feature. This is again a great feature that is built into the already rich package.

ASUS AC 3200 Review – Conclusion

This is a feature-packed and fully loaded package from ASUS and we are very glad that a powerful and capable router like this has come to the market.

Our Asus AC 3200 review found the router to be very competent. And it can handle multiple devices and can have up to 9 networks at a time which is a colossal number. The tri-band technology is excellent and works well. So is also true for the other features such as Ai Protection and Adaptive QoS. Both of which deliver what they claim to do.

In the end, if you are looking for a good, sturdy, and powerful router that can perform well in most scenarios. And has a great user interface and accessibility and security then you should definitely have a look at this device below.
